Sunflower Oil – Nutritional Value

Sunflower oil, e.g. Oleina, is one of the most used vegetable oils in Russia.

Sunflower oil consists of unsaturated fatty acids which are easily digestible and do not build up on the vessel walls. This is the main benefit of vegetable oils when compared to animal fats.

There is 99.9 g of fat and 89.9 kcal in 100 g of oil. Oils are the most powerful products in the human diet; they are the main source of linolic acid and vitamin E.

Vitamins are substances required for the normal functioning of our organism. Vegetable oils contain vitamins A, D, E, F.

Vegetable oils are particularly rich in vitamins E and F.

Vitamin E is an important anti-oxidant, it protects us from cardiovascular diseases, maintains the immune system, impedes aging and atherosclerosis, produces a positive effect on the functioning of endocrine glands and muscles, helps to take up fats and vitamins A and D, takes part in the protein and carbohydrates exchange. In addition, vitamin E improves your memory skills as it protects brain cells from free radicals. Vitamin E is a natural component of sunflower oil; it is also called “a vitamin of beauty”.

Recommended daily intake: 2 teaspoons of sunflower Oleina oil cover your vitamin E daily needs.

Vitamin F is a complex of polyunsaturated fatty acids that are essential for the human body. A lack of vitamin F may negatively impact the mucus membrane of the digestive tract, the condition of blood vessels, and lead to chronic liver diseases and arthritis. Vegetable oil contains only part of this vitamin (glycerides of linolic acid). There are two groups of polyunsaturated fatty acids: 3-Omega and 6-Omega. Sunflower oil contains only 3-Omega polyunsaturated fatty acids.

β-carotene is pro-vitamin A, an anti-oxidant, an effective preventive means to fight oncologic and cardiovascular diseases. It protects from radiation exposure. It is used for coloring and vitamin enrichment. A molecule of β-carotene produces two molecules of vitamin A in the human body. Vitamin A participates in biochemical processes in photo sensible retina cells.

A grown-up needs about 25-30 g of sunflower oil a day to fill in the daily needs for Vitamins E, A and omega-3. If your daily intake is sufficient, it will help you preventing atherosclerosis and related diseases. Useful substances in oil regulate the cholesterol exchange.
